Calculation & data

Grid / initial search area Adjust ground launch to a nearby terrain edge (max. 25 m)

Search expands automatically at the same resolution. Limits: 18 km at 10 m, 36 km at 30 m.

Terrain clearance (m)

Clearance applies after the start. Use 0 m for a ground launch.

Grid spacing is not source resolution. Mapzen Terrain combines regional sources: Austria includes 10 m data, Europe often 30 m.

Still air, constant glide ratio. No thermals, turn losses or reliable obstacle detection. A planning model, not proof of a safe flight route.
